Andrew Sherratt has spent over 25 years in the City of London as a solicitor specialising in company law and corporate finance work. He has held various senior management positions in City based law firms and has built and managed corporate capacity in on both the UK and on a pan European basis.

A highly experienced corporate finance lawyer, with wide ranging exposure across a number of market sectors, he has overseen over 50 IPOs and even more numerous secondary fund raisings as well as a plethora of M+A and joint venture transactions, many with a significant cross border element. Throughout his career he has acted for publically quoted companies and has advised their Boards in relation to strategic acquisitions as well as governance and conflict issues. Many of his transactions have been reported in the Financial Times and other leading print media.
 
Regularly listed in Legal Experts, Andrew is a member of both The Law Society and The City of London Law Society and is a past member of the City of London Law Society’s Company Law Committee.
 

Representative Experience

Acting for the British Government on the privatisation of the UK Water Industry and for the consortium of equity underwriters in connection with the privatisation of parts of the Electriciy Industry.

Acting for Goldman Sachs International and N.M.Rothschild on the London and New York IPOs of Vodafone plc

Acting for Genus PLC, the worlds leading bovine and porcine insemination business on the acquisition of Sygen plc.

Acting for Transamerica Finance Corporation on the sale of its trailer leasing business to Goldman Sachs.

Acting for the vendors of retail money brokers TTT Moneycorp to RBS plc

Acting for Clean Energy Brazil PLC on its London IPO and its joint venture arrangements for biofuel production and exploitation in northern Brazil. 

Acting for the management and over 2000 employees in the employee led buy-out for Gardner Merchant Services Group from Forte PLC, the UK’s largest ever MEBO;

Acting for AIM listed Biofuels Corporation in relation to its London IPO and other fund raisings in connection with the building of the UK’s first fully operational integrated biodiesel facility.

 

Professional Background

Andrew is a graduate of St.John’s College Oxford (where he gained an MA in Jurisprudence) and The College of Law. He qualified as a solicitor in 1985, and after spending the formative part of his career at Clifford Chance, was a corporate partner and head of corporate finance at DLA Piper before moving to Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP where he was a corporate partner and head of the Healthcare Practice Group.
